What is Cover Mode and restyle?
Cover Mode generates an alternate version of one of your songs in a different genre or style. It reuses your original composition — the same lyrics, the same chord structure, the same arrangement skeleton — and produces a new neural audio render that sounds like the song was recorded by a different artist in a different genre.
What changes in a Cover Mode render
- Instrumentation — a hip-hop version uses different instruments than the original country version
- Tempo feel and groove — the underlying rhythm and energy of the arrangement
- Vocal style — the neural audio model adapts the vocal performance to the target genre
- Production aesthetic — the overall sonic character of the mix
What stays the same
- Lyrics — your original lyrics are preserved exactly
- Chord structure — the harmonic foundation does not change
- Song structure — verse, chorus, bridge arrangement stays the same
- MIDI and MusicXML files — these are tied to the original composition and are not regenerated for a Cover Mode render
How to use Cover Mode
In My Songs, open any composition. The player card shows a restyle dropdown menu listing alternate genres. Select a target genre and click "Generate Cover." The new render appears in your song's download panel alongside the original when it completes.
Cover Mode uses the original neural audio render as a reference — it produces a new output that shares the structure of the original while adopting the sound of the target genre. The reference strength is set to produce a recognizable adaptation rather than a wholesale rewrite.
Credit cost
Each Cover Mode render costs one credit. This is separate from the credit used for the original composition. A 3-credit pack gives you 3 original songs, or 2 original songs plus 1 Cover Mode render, or any combination that adds up to 3.
What you receive
A Cover Mode render produces a single neural audio file — the alternate genre render. It does not regenerate MIDI, MusicXML, WAV stems, or a new Evidence Bundle. The original composition's files remain unchanged and are still available for download. If you need notation or stems for the alternate arrangement, the cover would need to be treated as a new composition.
AuthorMark on Cover Mode renders
Cover Mode renders receive AuthorMark embedding — the same C2PA content credential and AudioSeal neural watermark as a full composition. The C2PA manifest records the cover as a derivative of the original composition, including the original composition's timestamp.
