BananaRat Studio is an AI-assisted songwriting platform built for copyright-conscious songwriters. It runs a 7-agent pipeline that takes a brief and produces a complete song package — lyrics, chord chart, tablature, notation-accurate MIDI and MusicXML, multi-stem WAV audio, and a production-quality MP3 with vocals — in minutes. Open Beta launches 2026-05-25. GA is targeted 2026-07-27.
## Studio capabilities
- [BananaRat Studio](https://bananarat.com/pages/bananarat-studio-ai-song-composer): Main studio interface. Five composition modes: Topline (melody-first), Acoustic (guitar-forward solo), Band (full rhythm section), Sync (licensable instrumentals), Social (short-form). Twenty genres: Pop, Rock, Country, R&B, Blues, Jazz, Folk, Hip-Hop, Electronic, Indie, Alternative, Soul, Reggae, Latin, Punk, Gospel, Classical-Crossover, and more.
- Output per song: MP3 (production audio with vocals), MIDI (multi-track Type 1), MusicXML (.mxl lead sheet), WAV stems (per instrument, 48 kHz/24-bit), ASCII tablature (7-bit), chord chart, lyrics, PRO split-sheet, Evidence Bundle, C2PA manifest. Eleven file types per composition.
- File import: Upload existing lyrics, MIDI, or Guitar Pro files as starting point. Format detection auto-infers genre, mood, and theme. Original content is preserved in the composition.
- Cover Mode: Re-render an existing composition in a different genre or production style. The original seed is preserved for reproducibility.
- 7-agent pipeline: Song Intake Orchestrator, SongConfigAgent, Song Composer Agent, LyricHarmonyAgent, TablatureNotationAgent, ExportProductionAgent, BananaRat Voice Agent. Each agent receives verified output from the previous stage.
## Authorship and provenance
- [AuthorMark and C2PA credentials](https://bananarat.com/pages/faq-c2pa-authormark): Every MP3 receives a C2PA content credential and an AudioSeal neural watermark. C2PA records the generation platform, timestamp, and a hash of the audio at signing time. AudioSeal embeds an inaudible, machine-detectable AI-origin signal that survives transcoding. Neither layer records the user identity — authorship is documented separately in the Witness Log and Evidence Bundle.
- Verify: Any C2PA-conforming verifier can check an AuthorMark credential independently of BananaRat Studio. No proprietary tool required.
- Evidence Bundle: Structured authorship evidence per composition — Witness Log entries, composition transcript, generation timestamp, credit allocation — stored server-side independently of the MP3.
- TDMRep: bananarat.com publishes a tdm-reservation meta tag on every page, opting out of AI training dataset use. Each AuthorMark C2PA manifest includes a CAWG Trainer-Data-Miner assertion at the file level.
- Witness Log: Every compositional decision — genre choice, key selection, lyric refinement, restyle — is logged with a timestamp and credit weight. The log contributes to the Evidence Bundle and is preserved for authorship documentation.
## Privacy rights
- [Request a copy of your data (Art 15)](https://bananarat.com/pages/request-a-copy-of-your-data): GDPR Article 15 and equivalent laws (UK, California, Quebec) give you the right to obtain your personal data. Use the self-service endpoint at /api/v1/privacy/access-request or email feedback@bananarat.com with subject Data Access Request. You receive a single-use, time-limited download link. Export includes account record, compositions, song library, credit balance, and authorship-evidence ledger metadata.
- [Deletion (Art 17)](https://bananarat.com/pages/faq-gdpr-data-rights): Right to erasure at /api/v1/privacy/deletion-request. Requests include a brief waiting period during which you may cancel. Once executed, deletion is irreversible.
- [Restriction of processing (Art 18)](https://bananarat.com/pages/faq-gdpr-data-rights): Active restriction endpoint available. Account is placed in a frozen state — no new compositions or billing actions — while the restriction is in effect.
- 30-day SLA on all privacy rights requests per GDPR Art 12(3). Most requests processed within 48 hours on weekdays.
## Compliance posture
- EU AI Act Article 50: Audible and visible AI-origin disclosure activates 2026-08-02. C2PA AuthorMark is the technical disclosure layer.
- CA SB 942: Active immediately for California residents. AuthorMark neural watermark and C2PA credential satisfy the machine-detectable disclosure requirement.
- GDPR Articles 12-22: Art 15 (access), Art 16 (rectification), Art 17 (erasure), Art 18 (restriction of processing), Art 12(3) 30-day SLA.
- DMCA: Registered designated agent. Section 512 safe-harbor holdback of 180 days applies to compositions flagged for third-party copyright issues.
- DigiCert EV signing certificate: Planned for GA (2026-07-27). Dev signing cert active during Beta.
- Clean Room Input Filter: Three-layer content moderation on all user inputs and imported content — normalized blocklist, dual-model semantic check, and a pre-generation guard. Flags are surfaced to users with transparent explanations, not silent rejections.

## Inline content: AuthorMark and C2PA credentials FAQ
What is AuthorMark and C2PA content credentials?
Plain English. A little technical where it matters. No marketing adjectives.
The one-sentence version: AuthorMark is BananaRat Studio's implementation of two independent cryptographic signatures — a C2PA content credential and an AudioSeal neural watermark — embedded in every MP3 you make, so the origin and authorship of the file can be verified independently of us.
What C2PA content credentials are: C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) is an open technical standard for attaching cryptographically signed provenance metadata to media files. A C2PA manifest records: who made the file, what tools were used, when it was created, and whether the file has been modified since signing. The manifest is embedded in the file itself — not in a separate database — so it travels with the MP3 when you share or distribute it. The C2PA spec is maintained by Adobe, Microsoft, the BBC, and others. C2PA credentials are readable by any conforming verifier, including Adobe Content Authenticity and open-source tools like c2pa-rs. You do not need to use BananaRat Studio's platform to verify a file — anyone can verify it independently.
What AudioSeal is: AudioSeal is a neural watermarking technique. It embeds a signal in the audio waveform that is inaudible under normal listening conditions but detectable by a trained detector. AudioSeal provides a machine-detectable AI-origin marker that survives typical audio transcoding. It operates independently of the file container, so it works even if the C2PA manifest is stripped.
What AuthorMark records: The C2PA manifest records the platform that generated the content (BananaRat Studio), the composition timestamp (when the song was finalized), a hash of the audio content at signing time (detects modification), and a Trainer-Data-Miner assertion consistent with the CAWG specification — declaring that the file's use in AI training datasets is not authorized by the platform. AuthorMark does not record your name, account ID, or any personally identifying information in the C2PA manifest. Your authorship is documented separately in the Witness Log and Evidence Bundle.
What AuthorMark does not do: AuthorMark is not a lock on the file. It does not prevent you from sharing, selling, or distributing your songs. It is a provenance record — evidence of origin, not a restriction on use. The C2PA manifest identifying BananaRat Studio as the generation platform does not constitute a license grant from us. We make no copyright claim in the content. The manifest is a factual record, not an assertion of ownership.

## Inline content: Data access and privacy rights (Art 15)
Request a Copy of Your Data — GDPR Article 15
Under the EU GDPR Article 15 (and equivalent laws in the UK, California, Quebec, and elsewhere), you have the right to obtain a copy of the personal data BananaRat Studio holds about you.
How to request your data: Email us at feedback@bananarat.com with the subject line Data Access Request — or use the self-service endpoint at /api/v1/privacy/access-request. Use the email address tied to your BananaRat Studio account. Within one hour you will receive a confirmation email with a single-use download link. The link is valid for 1 hour and expires after first use. Click it to download a JSON file containing: your account record (Beta program signup data, if applicable), your feedback submissions, your composition session records (transcripts of intake conversations), your song library (compositions you created, their metadata), your credit balance (current + total purchased + tier), and authorship-evidence ledger metadata for songs you composed. The file does NOT include security artefacts (audit-log signing secrets, internal cryptographic digests) — those are operational data about us, not personal data about you.
Response time: We respond to all data-access requests within 30 days per GDPR Article 12(3). In practice we aim for under 48 hours on weekdays.
What if my data is wrong? If something in the export is incorrect, email feedback@bananarat.com with the correction. Under GDPR Article 16 (right to rectification), we will fix it within the same 30-day SLA.
What if I want my data deleted? Different right — visit your account settings or email feedback@bananarat.com with Data Deletion Request. Note that deletion requests include a brief waiting period during which you can cancel; once executed, deletion is irreversible. The deletion endpoint is at /api/v1/privacy/deletion-request.
Identity verification: To prevent fraudulent data requests, we send the confirmation link to the email tied to your account. Only someone with access to that inbox can complete the export.
